The “forget what you know” suggests a reboot or backtracking for the franchise. Call of Duty’s recent return to ‘boots on the ground’ combat has been a success given the strong sales of CoD: WWII. A big rebound from Infinite Warfare, matching previous franchise highs similar to Modern Warfare 2. There is a strong possibility that Treyarch will stick with it despite it representing a regression of the technology level from Black Ops III.
We will learn more from the community reveal scheduled for May 17. Personally, I am hoping it sticks. Not just selfishly because my KDR in CoD: WWII is at the best it has ever been in several CoDs now.
Black Ops IIII is scheduled for an October 12th release.
